Sherley Arias-Pimentel is an Afro-Dominican documentary photographer and visual storyteller based in Newark, NJ. With a natural curiosity and self-taught skills, Sherley utilizes her camera to not only understand the world but also to give a voice to those who may otherwise be overlooked. Fueled by a desire to serve, she uses photography as an instrument of empowerment, weaving narratives of unity and celebration within the tapestry of her community. Sherley AP invites viewers to embark on a transformative journey of discovery, compassion, and a celebration of the shared human spirit. She holds a BA in Anthropology and in 2021, she was 1 of 8 artists to be selected for Imagining America's Joy of Giving Something Fellowship (2022-23).
